Commitment Statement
Springout is promoted and coordinated by the Canberra Pride Group.
The Canberra Pride Group is not-for-profit and community-based. Our informal organisation currently consists of three volunteer members. It is hoped that one day we will have the capacity to create a formal pride association with broad membership.
Canberra Pride Group formed out of changes in the ACT queer community landscape. We hope to build an organisation that will support the diverse lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual, intersex and queer communities of Canberra explore, express and promote the life of our combined community through a cultural focus.
We affirm the pride, joy, dignity and identity of our communities and its people through events of celebration. We are committed to serving our community. We seek to enable individuals and groups within our community to discover, express and develop their artistic, cultural and political skills and potential.
We strive through our events of celebration to strengthen the lives and rights of queer local people. We will achieve these objectives by:
- organising events of celebration and pride, especially the annual Springout Festival; and
- providing opportunities to our communities for creative expression and promote the efforts of other GLBTI community groups.
